Match Report, Yr11 Birmingham Cup
Yesterday the Year 11 football team kicked off their Cup campaign against a physical St John Wall team.
NBA made the perfect start, Nazim Bashir pouncing on a defensive error to smash home after just 20 seconds. The same player doubled the lead after another error allowed him to nip in between defender and goalkeeper and poke home.
Sharmarke Ismael then joined in with the goal scoring when his scuffed 20 yard shot rolled straight at the keeper, who decided to dive over the ball, making it 3-0 NBA.
Minutes before half time a defensive mix up from NBA allowed the lively St John Wall striker to head home from 12 yards, lobbing goal keeper Abdou Faal in the process.
The second half kicked off at a frenetic pace, before Javad Hashemi won a free kick 20 yards out, and from the resulting free kick, smashed the ball into the roof of the net past the helpless keeper.
A long ball over the top allowed St John Wall to grab a second goal, but there were to be no more goals as NBA comfortably held on for a 4-2 win.
Some fantastic performances, in particular Jordan Lewis and Jacob Furnell, but Man of the Match goes to Sabir Shafiq, who was a rock in the NBA back line.
