Match Report, Yr9 District Cup

Year 9 played their first game of the season on Thursday night, at home to Hodge Hill College. It was the first round of a District Cup game.
The match started well for NBA, with two early goals from Adreece Nisar. With the game looking to be a formality, Hodge Hill came back into the game with a calamitous own goal from an NBA defender, to make the score 2-1. Hodge Hill came back into the game and pressed for an equaliser, but it remained 2-1 to NBA at half time.
The second half began badly for NBA, with two Hodge Hill goals in the space of five minutes, to make the score 3-2 to Hodge Hill. NBA goalkeeper Kaine Proctor could do little to stop them, despite some valiant efforts. This appeared to shock Year 9 into action, most notably Tyreece Weir, Modou Faal and Sami Mahmud, who all played an instrumental part in getting NBA back in front. First of all, Dishone McIntosh slotted a neat finish inside the post, to equalise. Tyreece Weir then added a neat goal that his play deserved, making the score 4-3 to NBA. Jama Ali played a beautiful through ball for Adreece Nissar to claim his third goal of the game. Hodge Hill then added another goal, to make for a thrilling last ten minutes.
Modou Faal scored the goal of the match, with a rasping 20 yard strike, which fizzed into the far corner of the Hodge Hill goal. Thinking the game was won, NBA took their foot off the pedal and conceded another goal with two minutes to go, making the score 6-5 to NBA. In a frantic final thirty seconds, Hodge Hill hit the post and the crossbar, but NBA somehow survived to make it through to the next round of the District Cup!
