Sixth Form Students Smash Targets

Students and staff were thrilled to discover that they have achieved an unbeatable 100% pass rate at A Level in this year’s examinations. As a result of the hard work and commitment of students they are delighted to be able to progress to their next stage of either university or employment.

These are the highest A Level results ever achieved by the Academy Sixth Form with an impressive 94% attaining the higher grades of A*-D against last year’s 54%. Also, many more students than expected got awarded the A*-B top grades with 44% achieving at this high level against 20% from last year. As a result of these improved outcomes the average A Level grade attained by students is now a C grade up from last year’s average of a D-. Students studying vocational qualifications have also performed exceptionally well with 100% being awarded their BTEC qualification of their choice and an impressive 93% attaining the full award with an average result of 2 merits. This year 72% of students were awarded a Distinction or Higher Vocational.

The Principal Catherine Davies stated,

We are delighted and proud of every student in our Academy family because they have shown maturity and commitment in delivering these fabulous results.  They should be proud of their achievements and we wish them well for their future.

She continued,

I would also like to commend the hard work and professionalism of staff who supported our students by offering an exceptional learning climate for them to flourish by providing wrap around support and nurturing that extended well beyond the Academy gates.

There were many notable achievements across subjects. The subject Leader for Media Studies Emma McAneny stated
