Year 7 League Season Back on Track

The year 7 football team got their league season back on track yesterday afternoon with a 14-3 victory over our local rivals Great Barr. The team were able to demonstrate their clear and measureable progress from the last fixture after extra training sessions helped the boys to understand how to play more as a team. The team got off to an excellent start with 3 quick goals from Sam Green, Rio Grant and Dylan Jones. They then finished off an excellent first half with a late goal to go in at half time 4-0 up.

The second half got off to an incredibly poor start with Great Barr capitalising on some poor defending to score within the first 15 seconds to make the score 4-1. The boys then pulled themselves back together and played some excellent football throughout the second half and their hard work and effort paid off with an array of different goals scored in the second half.

Mr Duckers was able to give all of the boys a good deal of game time and the team was cheered on from the staff who came out to support, with a big shout out to the PE department for their first class cheering.

Great Barr continued to put in effort for the whole game and should be applauded for never giving up and playing until the final whistle.

The game ran out 14-3 with Rio Grant scoring 5, Sam Green 4, Kaylan Gale 2, Dylan Jones 1, Conrad Smith 1 and Andrew Preedy 1. The man of the match was jointly awarded to James Bond and Rio Grant.
