Yr7 & Yr8 Girls Football

The Year 7 and 8 Girls' football made their debut and for some (most), their first competitive match of football, last Wednesday.  A newly appointed manager, Leah Barnes, had high hopes for her side, using the expertise of her assistant managers - Amy Clarke and Cassie Flemming.

Unfortunately, carefully thought through tactics went out the window when the girls conceded an early own goal due to a dodgy back pass and lack of communication between the defender and the keeper. NBA lost their first match against John Wilmott. The management team went back to the drawing board and made some dramatic changes for the second game against Highclare, these proved to be worthwhile as the girls' managed to hold a 0-0 draw against the tournament favourites with some ambitious at times, but brave defending.

In the following match, resilience and belief paid off as Precious Fleary rocketed a shot, taking it first time into the bottom corner to create a 1-0 victory again Bishop Walsh.

Congratulations to Leah Barnes, Amy Clarke and Cassie Flemming on their managerial debuts.  Also to all the girls for their valiant efforts.
